We don’t need to tell you that the high street is struggling, you can see it for yourself every time you pop into town. Loads of chains have gone bust or had to downsize, and in recent days the great high-street cull has claimed another victim.
Beaverbrooks, which sells jewellery and watches, has 89 branches across the UK. Or had, as the brand has announced the closure of seven stores which apparently aren’t profitable enough. Five of these will be in England, with the other two in Scotland.
A representative for the company told the Sun; ‘due to a range of factors there are seven stores that are unfortunately no longer commercially viable, and after careful and thorough consideration we have made the difficult decision to close them.

‘We aim to retain as many colleagues as possible within other Beaverbrooks stores or the wider business and are working closely with each individual affected.’
Although it seems gloomy, this doesn’t signal the end of Beaverbrooks. A new store is opening in Harrogate later this year, so this is more like a reshuffle than a downturn. Plus it’s not alone, loads of other chains like Homebase, Dobbies and WH Smith to Lloyds and NatWest banks are shutting down branches at the moment.
Which Beaverbrooks stores are closing and when?
Four out of seven stores will close in March, with all of them being gone by early April. Here are the exact Beaverbrooks shops that will be shutting and their last days of operation:
- East Kilbride – March 16
- Dundee – March 16
- Birmingham Fort – March 23
- High Wycombe – March 23
- Huddersfield – April 5
- Croydon – April 6
- Sutton Coldfield – April 6
