Everyone loves a bargain. And what better place to hunt one down than Poundland. True, you can no longer purchase a toilet brush, a pair of trousers or even cat food for £1, but you can still snag a pretty good deal.
Now, in a sign the cost-of-living crisis really is biting, 12 new Poundland stores will be opening across the UK in March and April. They follow the 18 new stores that launched at the end of 2022 and are part of the company’s plan to open or relocate a total of 50 stores by the end of the year.
Four opening dates have been confirmed so far, including a new site in Burton-on-Trent, where Poundland’s first store opened back in 1990, and a shop in Glasgow which will become the largest Poundland in the country at 18,000 square feet.
The eight remaining stores are scheduled to open in April. It is hoped that the expansion will generate around 8,000 new jobs.
