After being shut off on three separate occasions between March and July, there will be no more full weekend closures of the M25 this year. And that means no more major congestion and diversions (we hope). Hurrah!

National Highways said that the most recent closure ended ahead of schedule on Sunday, July 14 and was a ‘complete success’.

Overall, five closures had been planned to allow for major work to be done as part of a £317 million project. The other two are still going ahead, but have now been pushed back to 2025. National Highways said that it will give a minimum of four weeks notice ahead of those.

There will still be some minor closures this year though. Drivers have been warned that the M25 will be blocked off at times over part of some weekends, but not the full weekend. There will also be some 12-hour night closures in the autumn.
