The UK is full of world-leading hotels – and we know all about that here at Time Out. We’ve got definitive guides to the best hotels in places like London, EdinburghManchester and Lake District. But it isn’t just us lot at Time Out that backs British hotels.

A new ranking of the best hotels on the planet named (very appropriately) World's 50 Best Hotels has just revealed its 2024 list – and four UK hotels make the cut.

This year marks the second edition of World’s 50 Best Hotels, and the list is compiled with the expertise of 600 hoteliers, travel journalists and ‘seasoned luxury travellers’. It’s a prestigious affair, out to recognise the snazziest of snazzy hotels.

The highest-ranking UK hotel to feature was Claridge’s in London, which came 11th. One of London’s most famous luxury hotels, Claridge’s has been around for nearly 200 years. Read our Time Out review of the place, in which we gave it five stars (obvs).

Next up in World’s 50 Best Hotels’ list was Raffles London at The OWO in 13th, which also won the Lavazza Highest New Entry Award, followed by Gleneagles in Scotland in 41st and another London entry The Connaught in 46th.

Raffles London at The OWO, despite opening its doors in September 2023, has already cemented itself as one of London’s swishest hotels. This year it’s already placed in lists of the world’s best hotels by TIME magazine and National Geographic.
