Another day, another new flight option for UK travellers! In recent months we’ve had new direct routes to Cuba, Jordan and the Amalfi Coast. Now, Brits can jet off direct to Georgia (the European / Asian country, not the American state) for the first time in five years.

Air Georgia scrapped all of its services in and out of the UK back in 2020. But thanks to Air Iveria, we’re getting brand new routes from London to Georgia’s capital Tbilisi. Flights to the city with Air Iveria will launch from London Gatwick from May 13 and operate three times a week.

Georgia might not be the most obvious holiday destination, but it’s severely underrated. Tbilisi is home to a fascinating mixture of ancient Byzantine architecture, old Soviet structures and plush new builds. It boasts an 8,000 year history of wine-making (the average bottle costs just £3.50), delicious underrated cuisine and is particularly famous for its network of natural hot springs. Oh, and it’s been dubbed the ‘new Berlin’ for its boho cafes, emerging fashion designers and swimming pools which have been transformed into techno nightclubs.
