Got ten mill lying around, rock ’n’ roll fans? If the answer is yes, you could not only walk in the footsteps of a Led Zeppelin legend John Paul Jones, but also sleep within the same four walls he once did. If the answer is no, us neither. But you can still have fun nosing through pictures of his luxury former home.

The Old Rectory in the village of Dittisham, Devon, was owned by Jones in the 1980s and has recently been put on the market by Knight Frank for £9.75 million. The property seems to attract inhabitants of the musical kind as it later belonged to Michael Berrow, manager of Duran Duran.

The house dates back to 1760 but technically isn’t really Georgian because a fire destroyed the original building in the 1970s. It underwent a lot of restoration work and now boasts eight bedrooms, six bathrooms, four reception rooms and almost six acres of land.

The new owners will also be proud owners of a swimming pool, tennis court and outbuilding (a former Sunday school). Oh, did we mention the two-storey cottage and two-storey boathouse with access to the River Dart?

Knight Frank say the French doors, high ceilings and large sash windows give the main house a generous amount of light. One pair of tall double doors installed by the Berrows were actually sourced from the National Portrait Gallery. And if you fancy immersing yourself in even more British culture, Agatha Christie’s family home (open to the public) sits just across the river.
