The UK’s cinema scene has suffered some serious losses this year. Earlier this year we reported a bunch of Cineworlds were facing the axe, the Bromley and Fulham Picturehouses closed their doors over the summer and just last week, south London’s beloved Catford Mews was suddenly boarded up. So we’re relieved to finally deliver some good cinema news, as a brand new one has just opened in Cambridge.
The Everyman officially opened its doors in the Grand Arcade in Cambridge on Monday (November 11) complete with a selection of blockbuster, independent and international films with an all star lineup featuring Paddington, Hugh Grant and Tilda Swinton. The new opening is Everyman’s 46th venue in the UK.
Everyman is known for its luxury viewing experiences. Sure, you can pick a flick from the comfort of your own sofa, but it’s hard to compete with the feeling of reclining back in Everyman’s plush velvet armchairs and enjoying a delish selection of slacks, from warm cookie dough to hand-stretched pizzas and a fully stocked bar boasting fizz, cocktails and non-alcoholic drinks.
There’s also a ‘Founder Members’ card exclusive to the Cambridge Everyman that will get you complimentary popcorn for the first year of your membership. If all that isn’t enough to convince you, we’ve got a first look with some pics of the new cinema.

Tempted? You can now book tickets here. Tickets for an armchair start from £13.30 for adults, £8.75 for kids and concessions ones are available for £11.30.
Time Out on the big screen
That's not all that's new in the world of film. Paddington in Peru has smashed a box-office record and Netflix is throwing a huge Squid Game style rave at Drumsheds in London next month. And it's almost Gladiator time. You can read Time Out's say on the Ridley Scott epic here.
