Ever fancied cruising on two wheels entirely in the nude? Probably not. But if the answer is yes, look no further – the World Naked Bike Ride is returning to Cardiff this week.

Up to 150 participants will be bearing all as they ride past the city’s landmarks. And it isn’t just for the sake of going au naturel. The World Naked Bike Ride was born as a nude protest focused on body positivity, better infrastructure for cyclists and fossil-fuel use (name a more iconic trio!) Regular participants also say it makes for a pretty exhilarating day out.

Before you ask: yes, the event is perfectly legal. Public nudity is only illegal in the UK if it is deliberately intended to harass, alarm or cause distress. The World Bike Ride is nothing more than a joyful celebration of cycling, the environment and the human body. Want to know more? We’ve got you covered.

When is the World Naked Bike Ride in Cardiff?

It’s happening on Saturday, July 8.

Where does the ride start and finish?

Cyclists are meeting at 12.30pm in the Cardiff University Lawns at Museum Avenue. The eight-mile ride then starts at 2.30pm heading towards Cardiff Bay via the Civic Centre and city centre before turning back along the same route to finish where it started.

How can I take part?

You can sign up to take part in the event on the Cardiff World Naked Bike Ride Eventbrite page. Alternatively, you can just show up and strip off on the day.

And you don’t even have to take all your clothes off if you don’t want to. Many participants arrive in their underwear while others opt for fancy dress. If you do let it all hang out, organisers strongly encourage getting some body paint involved. As the charity’s slogan reads: ‘Bare as you dare.’

The ride will have marshals along the whole route to ensure participant safety and police presence has been requested in certain areas that may get busier.

ICYMI: Nearly 1,000 train ticket offices across the UK could soon close for good.

Plus: This is officially the best beer garden in England.
