Chances are, your current office views feature another bland, grey office block and dingy pavement. What if we told you that you could ditch all that and go to work each day to see some of the most spectacular vistas in the country, nay the world?

Featuring views of Loch Lomond, Ben Nevis and the magnificent Glenfinnan Viaduct (of Harry Potter fame), the West Highland Line in Scotland has long been deemed one of the most picturesque rail routes on the globe. And it’s now looking for a new driver.

The lucky new employee will be based in Fort William and get to guide the train on the West Highland Line that links Mallaig and Oban to Glasgow. And get this: to be eligible for the role, you don’t even have to have driven a train before.

There are obviously a few requirements, though. Applicants have to be over 20 years old by the time training starts, as well as enthusiastic, a strong communicator, focused and a good problem-solver. You’ll also have to pass a few medical tests including eyesight, hearing and colour vision tests.

As a trainee you’ll earn £32,968 per annum and once you’re qualified that will increase to £45,825 before eventually rising to £58,028. The successful candidate will also get a final salary pension scheme, generous holiday allowance plus free and discounted rail travel for them and their families. It all sounds pretty jammy, if you ask us.

Laura Saunders, commercial director of HiJOBS, the company recruiting on behalf of ScotRail, said: ‘This job is an absolute dream ticket for someone looking to go full steam ahead with a new career adventure.

‘Not only will the successful candidate be in the driving seat on one of Scotland’s most famous train routes, but the package offers a highly competitive salary, in-depth training and quick career progression. It’s a first-class opportunity.’

Applications close on November 18 and you can apply here

Time Out’s unofficial jobs board

Don’t lie, we’ve all played with the idea of letting go of our achingly average nine-to-five gig. If you’re tempted to try something a bit different, we’ve covered a bunch of unusual advertised roles, from master Lego builders and Shrek mascots to getting paid to read in bed every night and becoming a deckhand on a super remote island. The world’s your oyster, as they say.

Did you see that these are the most scenic rail journeys in the UK, according to the Guardian?

Plus: this is officially the UK’s most epic road trip.
