Christmas isn’t just about the day itself. Some may even argue that the weeks leading up to the big day are the best part – those weeks filled with ice-skating, Christmas light switch ons, festive movies and magical markets

And if you happen to be in Cornwall over the festive period, you can get in the spirit by heading to the Eden Project and exploring its brand new festive light trail, made up of twinkling immersive lights and sounds within its rainforest and Mediterranean biomes.

There’s not much info on exactly what the brand new trail will involve, but the Eden Project says that ‘the new lights and soundscape experiences will transform the indoor biome gardens into a twinkling nature wonderland’.

You can see the lights for free with your ticket to the Eden Project but will have to book a slot in advance. They’ll only be happening at 5pm to 8pm on selected evenings. So, mark these dates in your diary:

  • November 22-24
  • November 29-30
  • December 1-8
  • December 12-23
  • December 27-30
  • January 2-5

Can’t get down to Cornwall? There are loads of stunning Christmas illuminations going on across the rest of the UK. Have a look through Time Out’s favourites here

Did you see that snow and -5C temperatures will freeze the UK next week?

Plus: A new train line will soon improve access to one of the UK’s most remote seaside areas.
