Everyone’s favourite choccie-based attraction Cadbury World is about to undergo some major changes.
After axing its beloved Cadabra ride (which has had an impressive 27-year stint at the park), the chocolate haven is hopping on the immersive train with its new ride Cadbury Chocolate Quest.
The trackless ride will officially open in spring this year and is part of a wider £8 million revamp. The makeover comes after Cadbury World was taken over by Merlin Entertainments in January 2023, which also runs places like Legoland and Alton Towers (in other words, we reckon Cadbury World is in good hands).
The new ride will be based around iconic choccie frog Freddo sending visitors on a mission to collect all of the ingredients to make a bar of Cadbury Dairy Milk. The site has called it an ‘immersive, interactive and educational experience, suitable for all the family, and full of chocolatey fun and surprises’.
Ingredients are collected by zapping them with a laser as you ride through a maze of 3D sets and virtual screens complete with sounds, lights, smells and heat. It sounds like Cadbury Chocolate Quest will be quite the full sensory experience – and one where you’ll build up an appetite. So, of course, you get your own, well-earned Dairy Milk bar to enjoy at the end of it.
The B’ham-based theme park is closed right now but will reopen to the public on Thursday, February 8. Other new additions to Cadbury World include improvements to its ‘Have a Go’ zone and a revamp to its Bournville Experience and Advertising Avenue.
