This month the world’s biggest streaming platform is going properly old-school.
Netflix is opening bricks and mortar stores in London and Birmingham to auction off props from some of your favourite shows. And it’s for a great cause: all the proceeds will be going to mental health charity Mind.
‘As Seen on Netflix’, as the pop-up stores will be known, will be opening on Bethnal Green Road at 10am on October 12.
But hurry down because it’s only there for one day. It moves to Birmingham’s The Bullring, opening for a day there on October 19.
In store items, props and costumes will have a range of prices, with some starting at only £1.
Fashionistas should get a kick out of some of the fits on display, from a Balenciaga top from The Gentlemen, a Corteiz mask from The Kitchen, and Studio Nicholson boots worn in an episode of Black Mirror.
Look out, too, for a full replica of Charlie's (Joe Locke) Heartstopper bedroom at the store to celebrate the launch of season 3 of the coming-of-age series.
For anyone who can’t make it down in person but still wants to bid, Mind will be auctioning off a few extra items on its eBay page from 11am, October 11 to 11am, October 21.
The items going under the hammer include:
- Penelope Featherington’s headpiece from Bridgerton
- Dushane’s denim jacket and Sully’s Y3 tracksuit from the final scene in Top Boy
- Margaret Thatcher’s suit, as worn by Gillian Anderson on The Crown
- Emma Morley’s (Ambika Mod) typewriter from One Day
- Otis and Eric’s bikes (pictured) from Sex Education
- One of Jean Milburn’s wooden penises from Sex Education
- Set drawings from The Witcher
- A Real Madrid shirt signed by David Beckham
Bidding starts at £9.99 for the online items.
