Even if you’re not an art geek, you’ll no doubt know who Banksy is. The anonymous Bristol-based street artist has been spraying his cheeky, political, instantly-recognisable art around the world for the best part of 30 years.

And now, in tremendously exciting news, Banksy has announced an official exhibition. Running at Glasgow’s Gallery of Modern Art, it’ll be called ‘CUT & RUN: 25 years card labour’ and include works from throughout his career. This is his first official, authorised exhibition in 14 years.

‘CUT & RUN’ will feature plenty of Banksy’s best-known pieces, many of which have been recreated using the original stencils. Those include ‘Kissing Coppers’, which first appeared in Brighton in 2004, and ‘Mobile Lovers’, which was revealed in Bristol in 2014. Other pieces include the stab vest worn by Stormzy during his 2019 Glastonbury headline set and an exhibit dedicated to the shredded ‘Girl With Balloon’ painting.

There are, of course, plenty of unofficial Banksy exhibitions out there. The big one is London’s ‘Art of Banksy’, which returns this September. If you’re after the real deal, however, ‘CUT & RUN’ is the show for you. It’ll run from this Sunday (June 18) until August 28.

How can I get tickets for Banksy’s Glasgow show?

Tickets start from £15 for adults, £5 for children and £10 for students. Unfortunately, tickets are sold out online. A limited number are available in person at the box office.

Plus: this beautiful old British cinema is back in action – thanks to a £4 million revamp.
