From Cuthbert the Caterpillar to Perfections crisps, Nutoka chocolate spread to Wheat Bisks, Aldi has got supermarket knock-offs down to an art form. And it’s clearly paying off. The supermarket has been busy opening new stores all over the UK

In 2024 Aldi put £800 million into its expansion plans. This week, the supermarket announced that for 2025 it would be investing around £650 million in expanding across Britain’s towns and cities. It’s set a target of 30 new store openings in the next 12 months.

Giles Hurley, chief exec at Aldi UK and Ireland, said: ‘At Aldi, our unwavering commitment has always been to provide Britain with the best value groceries. The demand for our unbeatable prices is now at an all-time high, which gives us the confidence to continue investing in Britain to provide greater access to our award-winning products at the lowest prices.

‘We recognise that there are still areas without an Aldi store, so our expansion plans for 2025 are designed to address some of these gaps as we work towards our long-term goal of 1,500 UK stores.’

So far, we know that Fulham Broadway in London. Billericay in Essex and Cheadle in Stoke-on-Trent will all be getting a new Aldi next year. The rest of the locations and their opening dates are yet to be confirmed.
