If there’s one thing that unites us Brits, it’s complaining about the state of our rail network. Delayed, cancelled or simply not showing up, whatever it is, travelling by train is almost always sure to push our buttons. And with the news that rail fares will be increasing by 4 percent in England next year, trains could get even more costly.

One solution? Get the coach. And now we come bearing fabulous UK coach news: Flixbus is launching a fleet of 21 coaches out to ferry travellers across the UK. Is that a sigh of relief we hear?

The coach operator has partnered with First Bus, one of the UK’s leading bus operators, to deliver eight new and expanded coach routes as part of new five-year partnership between the travel companies.

Operating daily services out of Bath, Bristol, Slough, Taunton, Truro, Weston-super-Mare and Yorkshire, travel across the south-west is set to get a whole lot easier.

Andreas Schorling, Flixbus Managing Director UK said ‘This is a golden era for coach travel where new modern, comfortable vehicles provide an enjoyable experience that passengers love. This is a renaissance for coach travel, and we see record numbers of people trying and returning to Flixbus.’

The new services beginning in spring 2025 will also improve connections between northern cities including Leeds, Manchester and Newcastle

With 200 Flixbus vehicles on the road, the routes will also create a bunch of new jobs, with plans to recruit 65 new drivers to transport passengers.

Hitting the road?

Flixbus also launched coach routes between the UK and Ireland earlier this year, a brand new £28.7m underpass is being built under the M4 near Swindon and the UK’s best and worst motorway has been named.

Plus: National Express is launching loads of new faster coach services across the UK
