Warwick is probably best known for its humongous historic castle, which was built by William the Conqueror way back in 1068. It attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors every year who get to witness jousting battles, bird of prey shows and historical re-enactments down in the dungeons.
True castle stans can already fully immerse themselves in history and stay on the castle grounds overnight – but right now you can only choose between lodges, tower suites or glamping. From this summer, however, brand-new accommodation called the Warwick Castle Hotel will offer its most immersive overnight experience yet.
According to a press release, the £16.4 million, 60-bedroom hotel promises to be an ‘unforgettable experience’. Apparently each bedroom will be inspired by the War of the Roses, decked out with rose motifs, wooden beams, wall tapestries and shields. Because who wouldn’t want to feel like they’ve travelled back in time to a violent 30-year war?
There’s also loads of interactive features dotted around the resort. When you enter through the lobby, you’ll be greeted by an animatronic knight on a horse and as you walk the corridors you’ll encounter talking portraits offering insights into the castle’s history.
As part of the hotel experience, guests will also get to explore the castle grounds, watch its jousting tournaments and falconry shows, traverse across a treetop walkway and enjoy a themed dinner and evening entertainment in a medieval banquet hall.
Warwick Castle Hotel will officially open on July 22 with rooms starting from £159 per night for a family of four. You can book ahead here.
