Late night venues all over the UK have been having a hard time of it in recent years. Thanks to the cost of living crisis, some of the country’s most legendary nightclubs and live music hubs are being forced to shut left, right and centre – since the pandemic more than 3,000 venues have closed in London alone.

It’s all kind of bleak, but in some more uplifting news for British nightlife, seven of our nightclubs have just been named among the very best in the world. The International Nightlife Association (INA) is the ‘world’s first non-profit organisation founded specifically to represent entities involved in the nightlife sector’ and has just released its 2024 edition of the World’s 100 Best Nightclubs

According to the ranking, the UK’s best nightclub and the 26th best in the world is Fabric in London. It was closely followed by Ministry of Sound in 28th place and Bristol’s Motion in 29th place.

Further down the list at 39 was Manchester’s superclub Warehouse Project (which has been named elsewhere as the world’s number one nightclub) and landing in 48th place was another London venue, Studio 338. Ranked 80th out of 100 (and the UK’s 6th best club) was Drumsheds in London and Glasgow’s Sub Club was the final British institute to make the list, coming in at number 95.

It’s not just the INA that believes we have some of the finest clubs on the planet – electronic music and nightlife publication DJ Mag thinks so too

Time Out after dark

If you need more evidence that the UK offers some of the best nights out in the world, we’ve listed the UK’s most banging club nights, spotlighted the best emerging DJs, investigated Britain’s go-to party drug, the reinvention of working men’s clubs and the strip club renaissance.

Did you see that this town is officially Britain’s most miserable place to live?
