British summertime, you just can’t beat it. Every year, after a long and gruelling winter, we get to celebrate the warmer months with Pimm’s in the garden, cheering on Emma Raducanu at Wimbledon, and watching England disappoint at an international football tournament. That is, until the rain comes and messes up all our summer plans. So we’re here to warn you, you might want to cancel that barbecue this weekend, because a massive rainstorm is coming.
Weather experts have forecast a huge ‘Iberian thunderstorm’ this weekend, which could see 21 days’ worth of rain fall in just three hours. We’re starting to see why Noah built that ark now.
Weather maps from WXCharts have shown a stormy mass encroaching from Spain over this week, with the rainstorm set to arrive in the UK on Saturday July 27. The southeast of England is going to be hit the worst.
A separate weather map from Ventusky showed similarly rainy conditions and added lightning through the day. Ventusky predicted that at its worst, the storm could dump up to 13mm of rain over London over three hours, and up to 39mm in total.
If you’re heading out on Saturday, you might want to pack an umbrella.
