If there’s one person you can trust to tell you all the very best dining spots in the country (besides us, duh), it’s the marshmallow man. Michelin inspectors have the dream job of touring the UK’s restaurants year round, and each month,  they pick a new cluster of eateries to receive the honour of being added to the Michelin guide.

While getting added to the guide isn’t quite getting a star (which is only awarded once a year), it’s an impressive feat nevertheless. For October, 16 British restaurants made the cut – including eight from London, three from Scotland and one from Wales

Among the honourees, London’s The Parakeet was praised for its ‘big, gutsy’ modern British cooking and the Patagonia-inspired resto Touring Club in Penarth, Wales was commended for its ‘unfussy approach resulting in simple, fresh-tasting dishes’.

Inspectors applauded Cowley Manor in the Cotswolds for its 'bold, vibrant cooking' while eòrna in Edinburgh was picked for its menu with a ‘strong Scottish heart’. Two Irish spots also made the list.

Here’s the full list of the UK’s new additions:
