Freshers week is back. It’s that time of year again. If you’re a student moving to London for the first time, we want you to know there’s more to uni life here than downing sickly WKDs to ‘Come On Eileen’ in a sea of foam or tucking into your third plate of beans on toast in the week. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, of course: we’re just saying there’s a hell of a lot more out there.
This city is bloody spenny – there’s no doubt about it – but it’s also home to plenty of unexpectedly cheap places to party, eat and have fun. The thing is, you just need to know where to look. We’re here to help you out. Don’t know where the fuck to start with the rental market? We have you covered. Unsure what clubs to go to, which don’t involve (probably) bumping into the entire rugby team? We have some reccs. And what about all of those strange life hacks most Londoners all seem to be born with? We have some intel on that, too.
Freshers’ Week usually takes place the week before lectures start, but the exact date will change from university to university. Many will take place in the second half of September, with some being held at the start of October. Excited? Nervous? Don’t know how to feel? We got you. Here is everything you need to know about student life in London.
