The Substance

One of the most anticipated thrillers of recent times, The Substance, stars Margaret Qualley, Dennis Quaid, and Demi Moore. Directed by Coralie Fargeat, the film centers on a fading celebrity who turns to a black-market drug to regain her youth. Drawing inspiration from directors like David Cronenberg, John Carpenter, David Lynch, and Michael Haneke, Fargeat invites us to deeply reflect on humanity's obsession with staying young and the costs of that pursuit. The Substance also won Best Screenplay at the Cannes Film Festival.

Iranian director Mohammad Rasoulof, returned from the 77th Cannes Film Festival with a special award for Daneh Anjeer Moghadas. When his gun disappears, he starts suspecting his wife and daughters, taking extreme measures. Rasoulof, who fled to Germany, was able to attend the Cannes premiere despite his sentence of eight years in prison for anti-regime propaganda. Daneh Anjeer Moghadas is not to be missed.
