Get a rare glimpse of the Meiji era (1868-1912) guesthouse Akasaka Rikyu at night, which will be open to the public after-dark for just three days over Golden Week. This designated National Treasure is known as the only neo-baroque style palace in Japan. The main building and the front garden will be open to the public until 8pm (normally the building closes at 5:00 p.m.).
The lighting up of the main building after sunset is a must-see, with the golden glow of the gorgeous pavilion like something out of a storybook. In addition, live music by the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Band and Japanese music trio Palace 84 will be performed in front of the entrance of the main building, while drinks and snacks will be served at the Garden Cafe in the front yard.
