Shibuya Scramble Square shopping centre is celebrating its fourth anniversary this year from October 26 to November 11. The 12th-floor event space is hosting live DJ sessions over the October 28-29 weekend from 2pm to 7pm. The line-up includes local spinners including DJ Kenta and Jubee – plus a very special appearance by DJ Hello Kitty.
The following long weekend from November 3 to 5 will see a flea market with second-hand goods and upcycled items by Mother’s Made and Zivun.
Moreover, as we are celebrating Hachiko’s 100th anniversary this year, Shibuya Scramble Square is throwing a huge party with all-day-long festivities on November 11 and 12. Book a sake pairing course (¥3,850, or ¥7,150 including a commemorative sake bottle) and enjoy delicacies from Hachiko’s hometown, Akita, created by chef Yanase from Italian restaurant A Gatte Tanshie.
There will also be a pop-up shop carrying sake, liquor and craft gin from distilleries in Akita, in addition to plenty of Hachiko souvenirs. Kids, meanwhile, get to watch a dance show and participate in a special meet-and-greet session with the Akita dog mascots such as Hachi-kun and Taremimi Daichan at 12noon, 2pm, 4pm and 6pm daily (October 26-November 12).
Throughout the entire duration of the anniversary celebration, selected outlets in Shibuya Scramble Square will be offering exclusive products including Hachiko-themed desserts and household items. Check the website for the complete list of offerings.
