From December 15 2018, the castle park of Osaka will transform into an enchanting wonderland featuring cutting-edge light and sound design as well as immersive digital art. More interestingly, this Sakura Lumina event is no mere walk in the park; you’ll go on a fairy-tale journey as you follow several quirky characters around the castle to complete a mission.

Sakuya Lumina is the latest among nine different night walks happening around the world. Created by Canadian multimedia studio Moment Factory, this outdoor, mixed media interactive experience will engage all your senses using colourful lighting effects, soundscapes, scenography, video and other interactive features.

This is a unique opportunity to discover another side of Osaka, Japan’s third largest city. The city’s iconic castle and the park surrounding it become a different experience altogether after the sun sets. With Sakuya Lumina, you get to partake in a captivating adventure through the castle grounds in tandem with the event’s main story: Akiyo, a joyful young girl from the future, accidentally tripped through a portal into our time zone and now needs to find a way back to the future. For 45 minutes to an hour, you’ll get to meet a host of fun characters along the way as you accompany Akiyo on her mission. This heartwarming story of friendship and adventure is sure to make you smile – so don’t miss it.

With six different Lumina installations in Canada, one in Singapore and now two in Japan, Sakuya Lumina is a collaboration between Moment Factory and Yoshimoto Kogyo, one of Japan’s biggest entertainment companies; the Dentsu Group, a multinational Japanese advertising company; and the Osaka Castle Park.

Sakuya Lumina takes place at Osaka Castle Park in Osaka from December 15, 2018 and will run for three consecutive years. The event is open daily from 6pm to 10pm; last entry at 8.40pm. For more information, check the official page.
