Shimokitazawa’s Reload shopping complex is celebrating its second anniversary with live entertainment, workshops and food from May 27 to 28.
Café and restaurants within the complex next to Mustard Hotel Shimokitazawa will be serving special dishes during the festivities. Look out for a vegan lu rou fan and takana (pickled mustard green) stuffed bread from Universal Bakes Nicome, a Louisiana -style meat sandwich from Stabler, a matcha chocolate terrine from Megan and much more.
There are also plenty of activities to take part in. Swing by Ogawa Coffee Laboratory on May 27 to participate in a free aeropress brewing workshop from 11am to 6pm. If you want to get a bit more active, sign up online for a yoga and neighbourhood clean-up event hosted by Ignite Yoga on May 27 for ¥3,000. And don’t miss Shimokita Photowalk at the entrance, from where you can rent a Fujifilm Instax camera for free and snap up to ten polaroid images throughout the day.
You can also enjoy live performances on May 27 at Adrift event space with groovy music by Japanese acts Niko Niko Tan Tan, Chameleon Line Whoopiepie, Deep Sea Diving Club and Illimote. While the event doesn’t require tickets, you must purchase a ¥500 drink ticket to enter.
Those who are planning to bring their fur friends should stop by the Haraita Coffee pop-up store at Sidewalk Coffee Roasters. You can enjoy a cup of housemade plant-based ice cream and share it with dogs.
