As far as indoor illumination shows in Tokyo go, this one at Omotesando Hills ranks among the more impressive, highlighted by an 8.4-metre-tall 'Christmas tree of light' displayed in front of the central staircase in the middle of the complex.
The stunning installation by Yuji Okitsu, an acclaimed architect specialising in light installations, is made from around 40,000 hand-assembled lenses. The spiralling curtain of lenses, inspired by the surrounding staircases, beautifully decorates the atrium like a luminous art piece.
Don't miss the special 2-minute light-up show held every 20 minutes from 11.20am to 10.20pm.
