With a 400-year-plus history and a whopping 10,000 tsubo (about 33,100sqm) of space, the New Otani hotel's Japanese garden makes the perfect backdrop for this blossom festival. Taking place over three days, the Oedo Kioicho Sakura Matsuri will see performances of traditional dance and music, oiran processions and food stalls, while trying on a kimono (¥2,000) or a full set of samurai armour (¥3,000) will also be possible. Imbibers will want to head over on April 1 or 2, when the pop-up Sakura Bar serves up pink bubbly, nihonshu, amazake and coffee.
