This season, swap your usual hanami picnic for a special cherry blossom taxi tour. This is a great way to see more than one sakura spot in a day while hitting up some of the city’s lesser known cherry blossom areas.
Run by taxi and limousine company Nihon Kotsu, the special taxis will be decorated in pretty sakura petals and driven by certified tour guides to give you the best possible experience. Taxis can hold up to four people and you can pick from either a two-hour casual course or go for a custom course, so you can set your own sakura route.
The two-hour casual course (¥10,280) offers three different routes: around Tokyo Station, around Ueno Station, or around Shinagawa Station. If you’d like to extend your tour, each additional 30 minutes costs ¥2,470. The custom course (¥15,220) is three-hours long and you can ask the driver to take you to any cherry blossom spot within Tokyo's 23 wards.
