Although Yokohama's Chinatown is better known for its Lunar New Year celebrations, the action does get pretty intense on December 31 as well. The revelry centres around Kanteibyo Temple, where firecrackers fly, lion dancers strut their stuff and local residents say their first prayers of the year. Do note that the crowds here can be overwhelming at times.
