To support the Noto region’s recovery efforts following the devastating January 1 earthquake, Zojoji Temple is hosting a special summer festival on August 30 and 31. The event aims to recreate the famous Nanao City Port Festival, which was cancelled this year due to the impacts of the earthquake.
Here you can expect to see pop-up stalls selling fresh produce from the Noto Peninsula, as well as traditional matsuri food stalls offering local street eats. The highlight of the festival, however, is the Nanao So-Odori, a local dance from Nanao performed to give thanks for the blessings of the sea and the port.
Proceeds from the event will be donated to the city of Nanao for its ongoing reconstruction efforts.
