Humankind’s fascination with the mammoth is not a recent one. Our enthusiasm for the now-extinct woolly giants is on full display at the science and technology museum Miraikan in Odaiba. Along with some of the best preserved frozen specimens of the mammoth – straight from the tundra – the exhibition will also show off the century-old ‘Mammoth Revival Project’, which seeks to recreate the creature in a modern world by leveraging their well-preserved genetic materials. Come see mammoths preserved in the past, but also get a glimpse of the future through a cutting-edge study on their possible revival.
