Take a trip back in time to when samurai roamed the streets of Japan at this annual festival. The Machida Jidai Festival takes place on Sunday October 23 and features around 100 people decked out in armor as well as many cosplayers dressed in kimono parading around the neighbourhood from 11am.
At Serigaya Park, you’ll be able to watch traditional activities like hojutsu (the art of gunnery) from 12.15pm to 12.40pm, kobudo (an ancient Japanese martial art) from 12.40pm to 1.10pm, battojutsu (the art of drawing a Japanese sword) from 1.10pm to 1.40pm and yabusame (horseback archery) from 1.40pm to 3.30pm.
