Japan National Stadium Night Tour

Time Out says

See the Japan National Stadium, aka the Tokyo Olympic Stadium, in a different light on this special night tour. You can explore the venue that hosted the opening and closing ceremonies of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, and even play a few games yourself. All while admiring the illuminated Kengo Kuma-designed stadium.

During the tour from 5.30pm to 9pm, you can look at a display of shirts worn by teams that have played at the stadium. Expect to see shirts from the Japan national football team as well as from J.League and rugby clubs. There’s even a Christmas tree adorned with sports uniforms on the fourth floor south observation deck – perfect for an Instagram shot.

If you want to be a bit more active, you can play a game of boccia at the appropriately named Boccia Bar. This sport is similar to bowls and has been part of the Paralympics since 1984. Food and drink is available at Boccia Bar from 5.30pm until 9pm (last orders 8.30pm), including a warming selection of winter food such as a sausage set (¥500), garlic shrimp (¥600) and shumai dumplings (¥550). Soft drinks and alcohol are available, too, and there’s an all-you-can-drink beer option for ¥1,800.

For those wanting to experience the next level of hospitality, choose the VIP Lounge Christmas Dinner. This buffet is served in the stadium’s VIP room and features dishes usually eaten by guests during major events. It’s available from December 23 to 25 (5.30pm-9pm) and costs ¥7,000 per person.
