Can’t go apple picking this season? Visit the eighth floor of Shibuya Parco to pick some delicious red apples from Aomori and Fukushima, two prefectures which are known for producing some of Japan’s juiciest apples. A classic, crisp Fuji apple costs just ¥200. Or you can try one of Japan’s famous ‘honeycore’ Fuji apples with a special sweet centre for ¥500 each – be quick, though, they’re only available in limited quantities. There will also be some dark red Jonathan apples (¥300) which are best when cooked.
The family-friendly event also has illustrations from the picture book ‘It Might be an Apple’ by Shinsuke Yoshitake on display, which is where the event gets its enigmatic name. Plus there’s a shop where you can purchase apple motif knick-knacks, cake, jam, cidre and much more. It’s entirely free to enter and visitors receive a free sticker with an illustration of the main character from the book (while supplies last).
