This Nihombashi Mitsukoshi exhibition features about 1,000 stunning objects made from gold. With a focus on New Year’s celebrations, exhibits include lucky charms with a tiger motif (the 2022 zodiac sign) as well as impressive Japanese and Western-style tableware, Disney New Year’s decorations and Buddhist ritual items. All of these items are available for purchase as well. Don’t miss the 2m-long tiger statue that’s made of 1,500 sheets of gold leaf.
The highlight, however, is a 24-carat pure gold bento box, weighing 1.5kg and measuring 5cm in height and 19.5cm on each side. There is only one box available and it will be sold together with an assortment of exquisite food items prepared by restaurant Tokyo Kitcho. The culinary set is available for ¥33,162,000 (about USD$290,263).
