Home to more than 50 wisteria trees, Kameido Tenjin Shrine is one of the best places to see these delicate purple flowers in Tokyo. Visit between April 15 to May 5 to be awed by the traditional beauty of the shrine, which has been the subject of countless ukiyo-e woodblock prints.
The evenings are especially pretty, when the trees are illuminated from sundown to 9pm, with the lights reflecting off the shrine's pond. There will also be food stalls set up during the event, plus mikomai dance performances and tea ceremonies.
