Time Out says

Diamond Fuji is a rare natural occurrence where the sun aligns with the tip of Mt Fuji during sunrise or sunset, creating a brilliant spectacle akin to a jewel. This phenomenon only happens a couple of times a year and there’s one coming up in January.

Between January 23 and 29, you can witness this stunning sight from the 60th floor of Ikebukuro’s Sunshine City between 4.40pm and 4.50pm. We recommend that you get there earlier to find yourself a good viewing spot. There’s no special ticket for this event, just the regular entry to Sky Circus Sunshine 60 Observatory (¥1,200, high school and university students ¥900).

However, if you would like to capture Diamond Fuji on camera, Sunshine 60 is opening up its rooftop for an extra ¥5,000 between 3.30pm and 5pm on each day. You can get your ticket here (price includes entrance fee to Sky Circus Sunshine 60) starting midnight on January 14, but hurry as only 15 spots are available per day.
