Head over to the waterfront Toyosu Park on Sunday July 7 at 7.30pm for a free drone show. While July 7 is Tanabata in Japan – a traditional festival celebrating the meeting of two deities Orihime and Hikoboshi – it’s also Calpis Day.
This year, to commemorate the 105th birthday of the popular Japanese yoghurt drink Calpis (also known as Calpico in North America), drones will light up the night sky to recreate the meeting of the aforementioned deities and the Milky Way that separates them. A giant Calpis bottle with its signature polka-dot label design, which symbolises the Milky Way galaxy, will also be making an appearance.
