Akio Kasuga Collection: American Toys since 1920s

Advertising

Time Out says

Dr. Akio Kasuga, a professor at Tokyo Zokei University, has accumulated over 6,000 toys from around the world. At this exhibit, you’ll be able to see around 150 different American toys from his collection, some of which date back to the 1920s, and compare them side by side with Japanese toys from the same period.

Most of the items on display were made by Fisher-Price, one of the biggest US toy manufacturers, and are smaller versions of household appliances and tools like telephones, vacuum cleaners and radios. Many of the toys are designed to allow children to imitate adults, from running a shop to cleaning the house.
