Swiss stop-motion animation Pingu is celebrating its 40th anniversary at Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse this winter.
The exhibition features around 400 items that Ottomar Gutmann and Erika Brueggemann used when creating the TV series including storyboards, films, polaroid photos, diorama displays, Pingu clay figures, and more. You can even take a rare look inside the process of the making of a Pingu stop-motion short. You’ll also get to watch Pingu’s latest CG-animated incarnation, Pingu in the City, which was produced in Japan and broadcast on NHK in 2017.
Fans can pick up exclusive merchandise like tote bags, mugs, plushies and snow globes at the gift shop. And if you spend over ¥1,000, you’ll receive a Pingu bookmark for free (while supplies last).
