The Royal Opera: Otello

This opera based on Shakespeare’s play Othello, by Giuseppe Verdi, tells the tale of a powerful army general, Otello, and his wife Desdemona, whose lives are ruined by Otello’s jealous and conniving comrade, Iago. The four-act tragedy about envy and deceit will be performed by The Royal Opera on its first tour in Japan since 2015. This production is conducted by Sir Antonio Pappano, who was appointed as music director of The Royal Opera House in 2002.
