Tsukushi Bunguten

Hiding among the quiet houses in tranquil Kokubunji, this small stationery shop is owned by designer Shu Hagiwara, who reopened his mother's old store in 2004. Tsukushi produces nine kinds of original items, including notepads, pencils and stainless steel rulers, all simple and functional. Hagiwara started a small-scale design class in 2012, and his students now look after the shop on most days. Exhibitions and workshops are also held here, making for fun interaction with the local community.
