This shop in Hatagaya offers a range of light deli foods made with tofu and packed with all kinds of so-called superfoods. There are around 20 different dishes on offer, including bento items and desserts, all starting at ¥100 and up. We recommend finger foods like the atsuage sando (¥150), which is filled with marinated prosciutto with onion and cream cheese inside a thick slab of deep fried tofu, or the bite-size chicken and tofu gratin made with soy milk.
For a filling meal, the tofu neba-neba salad (¥600) is a guilt-free bowl packed with housemade tofu, yams, kimchi, okra and tofu, seasoned with a dash of dashi stock. Of course, you’ll be able to purchase the shop’s speciality tofu (¥300) on its own, made with premium soy milk derived from Ibaraki soy beans. It has a pudding-like consistency and the shop recommends you enjoy it as is, or with a simple drizzle of olive oil or salt.
The remaining okara (soy pulp) from the making of the tofu is used to make cookies (¥300) that come in five flavours including peanut butter, chocolate chip, matcha apricot, walnut and cocoa chocolate chip. They’re entirely gluten-free and vegan, made without any eggs and dairy.
All foods can be purchased for takeout, or enjoyed at the café space. Make sure to check out its website to participate in cooking workshops using tofu in the near future.
