If conventional square-shaped shokupan doesn't get you excited, then maybe this adorable cat-shaped version will change your mind. The kawaii loaves are made from a mixture of domestic wheat flour, cream, honey, and plenty of fresh milk which makes this bread so moist and fluffy. There are four types of shokupan loaves to choose from: plain, chocolate, azuki (red bean) and cheese, plus additional seasonal flavours depending on the time of year.
While a loaf of the plain version costs ¥585, the other three variations come in at ¥770 per loaf, but we think its unique shape is worth the price as it makes for some pretty picture purr-fect toast.
