At this store unlike any other in Tokyo, you can sip on a glass of booze while shopping for fashionable socks. Sock enthusiast Mayuko Fukuda, who’s previously worked at second hand clothing stores, opened Kutsushita Tosake Bobo after having the desire to make it easier for people to coordinate socks with their outfits. The idea of mixing shopping with a casual drink came to her after spending a difficult time trying to organise a get together with friends due to the pandemic.
Here you can browse shelves of high quality socks that come in all kinds of patterns and designs. You’ll find over two dozen brands of socks made in Japan, as well as countries like Italy, the US and France. Make sure to check out its original socks that come in four variations with the shop’s logo on them. But it’s not just the socks that are eye-catching – the walls and shelves are covered with colourful illustrations to match with the products.
When you want refreshments, just head to the counter on the right hand side of the room to buy drinks and snacks. You can order a lemon sour for as little as ¥500, or soft drinks for ¥400. And if you’re feeling peckish, the menu offers small bites like cheese, pickles and seasoned bean sprouts for ¥500 per plate, too. Feel free to browse around with your drink in hand or lounge around the open space with stools and tables to take a break from shopping.
