At this massive Hokkaido fair in Ariake, you can shop for over 70 specialities from Japan’s northern prefecture and set up your own New Year’s dinner at home. The companies here were selected because their items are hard to find in Tokyo or online, so you can look forward to Hokkaido patisserie Bake de Arles’s no-bake cheesecake topped with five different types of berries, or jaga-buta – a potato dumpling that’s filled with vegetables and Hokkaido pork.
The main purpose of the market is to enjoy all these delicacies at home, but seafood bento and soft serve ice cream made from Hokkaido milk are available to enjoy on-site.
