Time Out says

Decked out with pastel hues and intricate paper flowers, this cute gelato shop in Sangenjaya is run by Japan’s award-winning patissier Yosuke Otsuka, who took the top spot at the 2021 FIPGC Milano World Championship. Yayoi Tokyo prides itself on using natural ingredients to make its gelato, which also has less sugar than the usual gelato and is completely egg-free. There are ten flavours to choose from, including milk, strawberry, chocolate, mango passion fruit, pistachio, and vanilla caramel.

The menu only offers double scoops, which go for ¥650; premium flavours command an extra ¥200. The selection is dominated by fresh, fruity gelati, and we particularly love the Yakushima tankan citrus and orange gelato. For ¥1,500, you can get an alcohol pairing set, with a glass of cocktail selected by Shinobu Ishigaki, a former first place winner at the International Bartenders Association competition.

On Saturday and Sunday however, you might want to make a reservation for the weekend-exclusive seasonal parfait (¥2,800). At the time of writing, it’s a dainty creation of peach mousse and gelato, framboise mousse and rose jam. It comes with a drink and small snack.

Yayoi Tokyo is open until 10pm on Saturday, perfect for that post-dinner sweet treat.
