If you’re craving a traditional Japanese sweet treat, then drop by at this small taiyaki shop in Negishi. Usually these fish-shaped cakes are filled with red bean paste, but Taiyaki Anzu’s owner decided to give these traditional snacks a twist by filling them with his favourite apricot jam instead. The sweetness of the apricot plus its moderately sour taste harmonises perfectly with the taiyaki. For those who prefer the standard taiyaki, order the tsubuan (coarse sweet red bean paste) or the custard version. Taiyaki filled with ice cream are available as well.
