Sushi Uraonikai is a reservation-only sushi restaurant in Hatchobori serving classic Edomae-style sushi along with other traditional dishes.
The restaurant prepares premium koshihikari rice for sushi with akazu (red vinegar), and – in keeping with typical Edomae techniques – mainly uses marinated, preserved fish, giving the sushi a bolder flavour (although sushi made with fresh fish is also available). Sushi Uraonikai also serves kuzushi sushi, made with fish paste, and a special donburi rice bowl (¥1,100) topped with sea urchin, shrimp, and crab.
The omakase course costs ¥10,000 and comes with 15 pieces that change depending on the fish in season. You can pair your sushi with a tea course (¥2,800) or a set alcohol menu (¥5,000) which includes wine and sake bottles carefully selected by award-winning-somelier Yoshihiro Nagase.
