Set on the 12th floor of Shibuya’s Hulic &New Udagawa building, Shibuya Blue Bird looks like a date restaurant. You’ll only find two-seater sofas here, most of which face the picture windows overlooking a panoramic view of the city skyline.
The menu is largely Italian focussed, with an a la carte selection that’s heavy on meat and pasta. The premium seven-course dinner (¥4,980) is reasonably priced considering the location. The meal starts with a housemade focaccia with whipped butter as well as an appetiser plate featuring wagyu, pâté and shrimp. Next is a vegetable soup, a serving of dill-marinated salmon, and your choice of grilled wagyu or roast beef. Then you’ll be served a wagyu bolognese pasta before the dessert.
For a better deal, come during the day on weekends and you can enjoy lunch for just ¥1,980. You’ll get a wooden bento box stuffed with six colourful dishes as well as a soup, a tomato and bacon pasta, your choice of meat or seafood main course, and a dessert. Plus, unlimited freshly baked focaccia.
The best part of Shibuya Blue Bird is that the restaurant is open until 4am daily, serving cocktails, desserts and light meals until dawn. So the next time you’re stranded in Shibuya after missing the last train home, head over to Shibuya Blue Bird and enjoy the rest of your night in comfort.
